OIL THREAD: Walmart synthetic vs. Castrol Syntec
So I see that walmart full synthetic oil is like 15$ for a 5 qt bottle and Castrol is like $25. Is there really even a difference? I mean they both have the exact same seal of approval and all of that and they look, feel, and smell the same. Just wondering if anyone has ever done an oil anaylsis on the walmart stuff.
Please do not bother posting "Buy Castrol because its better because its more expensive", I am looking for any factual information.

Well if your comparing to the GC 0-30W thats a better oil (yes according to bobs the oil guy), but for normal stuff, I dont' think you can really beat the walmart syn stuff for the money. I use it on my beater.

IIRC, the Wal-Mart syn is a good oil for the money, with a standard additive package. Since "synthetic" in this instance means highly refined GrIII, it's a better oil than many others. The package is standard, off-the-shelf stuff, which is what helps it retain a price advantage.
All in all, good stuff for the money. If it was something I was looking for I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
