Default broke a bolt, need help on extracting it...

I was swapping my transmission mount, and the bolt that holds the actual mount to the tranny snapped off real easy. I have no idea what the hell was up with that. Anyways, can anyone give me some advice on how to remove it? I searched around, and it seems that everyone had different suggestions. I know I will probably need an easy out, but can anyone assist me beyond that? Thanks again folks.

drill it out and get a heli-coil kit.

Is the bolt below the top of the hole or is it sticking out? Go get one of those cheap extractor kits at sears, drill the center and remove the broken bolt...if the threads are bad, heli-coil it then.

I use these from snap-on:

But the best you will find at sears is: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes

It will not grip as well as the snap-on tools, but should get the job done if you didn't gall up the threads, and the bolt just broke.

cool, I have the extractor set. So I just drill in the center of the bolt, and thread the extractor in, then reverse the extractor and it should come right out, correct?

thanks guys for all your help! This is what I did. I got an extractor set from the local parts store and got a punch. I flattened the center of the bolt, because I was having a hell of a time drilling it in the center (something about me almost standing on my head complicated things). Once I got a good indention going I was all set. I didnt tap too hard, just enough to wear down a hole, I was hoping the threads were fine, so I didnt want to put any undue stress on the threads. Once I got a good indention, I put some oil on the drill bit to try to lubricate it and keep it from burning up. I drilled in about 10 second increments (to let the bit cool) until i was about an inch in. I put on the left hand thread extractor, and drilled it into the bolt, instant success, it came right out with the extractor. Hope this helps anyone else with any problems they may have. My threads were fine so I am in luck.

Make sure you used grade8 or (hopefully) 10 to replace the broken bolt. Dont ever want to go through that again.
