Default ses still on (IAT)

I was getting this sensor after a friend did some testing of my air cond. system. I'm guessing we shorted something out but I'm not sure.

Speed inc. checked it and said none of the wires were cut and they reset the pcm. went away for 50 miles and came back. so i replaced the sensor. have driven about 200 miles and its still there.

I didn't reset the pcm but i assume its not going to do anything if it didn't go away in 200 miles.

any other ideas???

Clear the codes again. You have to after replacing O2 sensors (just puting new ones in won't make the codes go away). it's free at Auto Zone.

Sounds like an open in the wiring. If it were short you would have probably gotten a P0112 code.

in my experience on OBD-II vehicles this statement is untrue

light will be on when a problem is detected and the light will turn off when the problem either has been fixed or has passed the ECU's test (which can be mulitple starts, driving, idling)

When looking up the IAT code the diagnostic chart at gearchatter.com asks if code P1635 or P1639 are also set - those could have something to do with the AC pressure switch. I'd look at that wiring/connector too.

Ah. So, you're saying my front O2 codes kept showing because it hadn't yet tested them? Okay. That makes sense. Thanks for setting me straight on that.

yeah the ac is messed up too. i had to wire a separate switch to turn the compressor on and off. the pressure switched seemed to test okay. couldn't figure out the ac for my life. so i wired the switch.
