fuel filter change..wow
I changed my filter out at 57,275 miles. The total tune up is in work and recently the car has been slightly down on power. I've changed the plugs, oil and cleaned the maf and KN. Part throttle accel reveiled some flat spots and was becoming more pronounced. O2's are going in soon but i thought "what the hell" as i gave the fuel filter a change. WOW it made the difference! Never seen a fuel filter make that much of a difference. Musta been nasty in there. Still have to do the o2's and plug wires. No pcm scanner yet so i had to use a little old intuition . Anybody ever measured a pressure difference before and after a filter change? Probably doesnt take that much of a drop to start acting up like mine did.

I'm not sure if there is an actual consensus on how often to change your fuel filter....Some guys change every 10k others are more like 40k.......if it 'feels' like its time, its probably time.

the old filter is long gone or i would have tried tapping it on the side. i'll do that next time if i can remember. I think the filter company stated to change it every year. Thats sounds right for most of our DD's. That would put me right at every 10k.ish.

Guess i'll start getting a fuel filter with every 3-4th oil change then. Cheap insurance too concidering the pain of replacing a fuel pump + the $$.
Has anyone done a before and after replacing fuel filter psi check? My 70+mph punch came back alive after the filter change. Just curious as to how much pressure some of us wer actually losing. strictly guessing a couple of #'s?

Your acceleration flat spot...I've got a bad one at about 2500-2800rpm. will give this a try. Still need to do plugs and wires (ugh). I'm still intimidated on that right side cylinder bank.
