Intake manifold gasket help
While changing the tranny in my car, I noticed I have a small oil leak coming from the rear of my intake. The only place I can find a gasket for my car has a gasket for 01-03 LS6, will this still work on my car? Or can anyone direct me in the right place for a new gasket?

um, the intake manifold doesn't seal any oil passages, the only seals are for the intake to head ports and the throttle body. It's most likely your valley cover which I believe just has RTV on it? or silicone. but no there's no worry about draining coolant for the manifold or the valley cover. might also be your valve cover gasket leaking.

The valley cover is what is under the intake? I just went out and looked again and the whole area around the head is dry. The only area I could find that was wet was around the starter, and the bottom of the bell housing. I could have swore I saw an oil trail coming down the passenger head/block area yesterday. I wonder if my dad took a rag and wiped it up. I'll have to ask him tonight.
I can't tell if the oil pan is leaking, but it is wet all around the passenger side. I never see any spots of oil on the cement, so it's a slow leak. It's not the rear main either.
I hope it's not the oil pan, looks like a pain to replace. If it is I'll just wait to change that in the winter and replace the steering rack then to. Thanks for the help!

No, you don't have to drain any coolant if you're removing the intake.
And as stated, your intake does not seal off any oil passages.
Your valley cover is directly under the intake (large rectangular aluminum plate that the knock sensors mount in-you'll see the wires coming off the tops of the sensors).
The valley tray DOES use a gasket, not silicone. It has a large rectangular metal gasket with o-ring beads on each side. The valley cover could leak oil as it seals the valley between your heads.
Best to try and see exactly where the oil is coming from first, instead of starting to tear things apart one-at-a-time.
Could be valley cover, rear cover seal, oil pan, or if it's on your starter, it could also be leaking from head gasket and running down side of block, or from valve cover gasket and running down side of block.
Look up and see where the block is dry and where the oil wetness first occurs - that will tell all.
