Trans Am burning Oil
Hi Everyone!
I hope you are all doing well today. Recently my car has started burning oil. I'm sort of scared now because I really don't any money to fix any major repairs. right now I don't really need the car because my wife is not working but once she starts I'm going to need it. Do you guys have any ideas what could cause my car to burn oil? Whats usually the problem when the car starts doing that? I know there isn't much information but it just started doing it. I've dropped two new bottles of oil in it in the last month and I've only driven the car maybe 150 miles. Anyways thanks for all your help! have a great day!

It's common for LS1s to burn a little oil, but not 2 quarts in 150 miles. How many miles are on your car? How long have you had your car, and how many miles have you driven it during this time? At what rate did it consume oil during this period? What oil are you using, and how often are you changing it?
The LS1 likes a little thicker oil. Mobil 1 5w30 is sub-par for it, it's too thin. If you like the Mobil 1 line, then the 5w40 would be your best option, or 0w40. German Castrol in the 0w30 variety has been proven to produce good UOAs (used oil analysis). One other oil that has seen some good results is the Pennzoil Platinum. Our oil guru here on Tech (Patman) is trying that out himself at the moment.
Fill us in on the finer details and hopefully someone will be able to help you out.
