Car Wanders right to left
Anyone know the main cause(es) of this problem? The car swerves from left to right on the road. The worse the road, the more you have to fight the car's steering to keep it straight.

This is fairly common for cars with wide and/or directional tread tires. But you might want to look at your tires for uneven wear and get an alignment done if you haven't recently, when I had mine aligned it made a big difference in the wheel wander, of course I got new front tires at the same time.

this can be considered a good thing.... just think about how much grip you have.... I mean 9 iniches of traction will hook to every uneven surface you drive over... The wider the tires the worse it gets.
Try driving on a flat road and let go of the wheel... If it wanters to the left or right either or , have your algnmt checked.

My car was doing this HORRIBLY, also vibrating the wheel and car at speeds
put your car on ramps, look at your k-member where the steering rack is and have a friend jiggle the wheel while your looking. my power steering rack was handtight to my k-member... the whole thing was shifting left to right. after torquing it, it is like a brand new car, hasn't felt this good since i've owned the car
I made a post with the same problem and was told it is a common thing on our cars. Just something to check...

First thing to check would be the tie rods. Also the steering may feel loose. I know from experience as thats what my Camaro did and had to replace them after 50k miles.
If they need to be replaced do a search on Moogs in the suspension forum.

I had the same problem but it turned out to be my lower control arm bushings, removed them myself (2 hours),pressed in all (2 hours), except the lower ball joints save yourself some anguish and let chevy press them in for you, they go in at an odd angle lucky me though, it only cost a 30 can case of Bud.

im gonna have to go with the tie rod ends. thats what happened on my 95z28 and i put new tie rod ends and while i was under there i noticed the rack and pinion was leaking. so i took the tie rods back and bought a new rack and pinion that included the tie rods. i cant remember how much, maybe a couple of hundred bucks. my friend and i put it in, drove it to get aligned and the thing drove like a dream. hope this helps.

A bad tire(shifted belt) can cause this behavior. Rotate your tires front to back one side at a time and see if the handling changes. If it does you have moved a bad tire to the back. Nearly impossible to see by looking at the tire. I've had this happen several times on different cars.
