Default Motor mounts going?

Currently at 165k miles and I've noticed that when in 1st or 2nd gear and I give it some throttle, there would be a slight delay in throttle response caused by a torque "thump" or "kick". It isn't a real hard kick, but noticeable.

Is this a sign for bad motor mounts?

motor mounts would be an excellent upgrade in that situation, i know my motor mounts were cracked at 86k u can also try upgradeing to poly torque arm bushing and poly tranny mount and then the motor mounts

To check for a bad motor mount open the hood and look at the engine through the windshield while you power brake it for a second. If the engine lifts a lot, or twists they are bad.

How difficult is it to install poly motor mounts?

I've read here that if you don't add poly motor mount after you added poly to the trans mount you can break some part of the transmission?

that is still not so accurate, when i free reved b4 the motor mounts the motor moved some, the stock mounts are junk, the prothane mounts i put in are twice the size of the stock which is more surface space and more rubber

thats not true, i had my poly tranny mount for about 6 months or more b4 i did the motor mounts, i can see that happening maybe if one of the motor mounts were completly broken and there was excessive play.

If he says he can feel a kick or thump it's accurate enough.
It's either test like I said or just throw some new ones of some type on. Still not knowing if it's a motor mount problem but what the hell just throw parts at it, one day it'll work right.

^^^ go under ur car and take a good look at ur drivers side motor mount, push on it with ur finger, mine felt soft some will be mushy. whatever the drivers side is the passenger would be 2x worse since the engine moves to the passenger side from torque.

+1 to that. If it is them, the polys are not fun to install. I put in the drivers side but the passenger side had to compress a good amount for the through hole to line up. Boy o boy did i throw stuff around because it wouldn't go but eventually got it.

How do you define mushy and how mushy should they be? Does Kent Moore make a motor mount mush tester?
When you visually check motor mounts you look at the bolt, it should be in the center of the shell or close to the center of it.

The prothane mounts are a PITA to install. But once you are done you will feel great knowing that you will probably never have to do that install again.
