Default window problem

I am having problems with both the driver and passenger side windows not wanting to work properly. They will start to roll down fine and then they will stop, I can turn the key off and then back on they will move just slightly. I don't know if this is caused by both window motors going bad or not, but its keeping me from rolling my windows down and being able to enjoy my t-tops this summer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Either switch panel or the motors, I would think.

Motors are gone, time to replace them. Autozone has a lifetime warranty set for pretty cheap. There are plenty of write-ups on this one should be in the sticky at the top. What happens is the motor overheats, stops, cools a little and will work for a few seconds then overheat and repeat.

Motors are going bad. On my car, both sides tended to go at about the same time.

Often, turning the car off seemed to "reset" the auto-off circutry in the windows sometime, which sounds like what is happening for you. You should still plan to replace your motors ASAP, but here is a work around to get them up in the mean-time:

- When you turn the car off after they act up, open a door to make sure the retained power also shuts off. Open the door, turn the power on, and then tug up on the glass with your hand as you engage the up button. Sometimes this extra "help" is enough to keep the motor's auto-off circutry from turning off and may allow you to get the window up. (But - don't rely on this. At some point the motors will get worse and this trick will stop working!)

Sounds like you generally roll them both down at the same time..

Getting the AutoTrix Window Fix kit from WS6 Store will help keep this from happening again.
