Default engine mounts made wrong?

I just finished tearing the stock k member off my car. It is being replaced with one from UMI. While I'm there I was going to replace the stock motor mounts with poly Prothane pieces. The stock mounts are both the same, but the Prothane pieces are opposite of one another. The long tab is on the left on one, and on the right on the other. It looks to me that I could grind the tabs that engage the stock pedestals off the mounts and flip one around, since the UMI k member doesn't have the notch that they sit in. Has anyone tried this before? I don't want to end up ruining the mounts, but need to get the car back together ASAP... Any input is appreciated !
