Default QTP Header Size

I know this topic has been beat to death , but I searched and haven't found a good answer.

I am getting a set of QTP Headers in the next month or so. Right now my car is stock, but I am planning on Stage II LS6 Heads (Patriot Performance), Medium Cam, and a 100 Wet Shot after it is all said and done.

I was originally going to pick up a set of 1 3/4 High Velocity headers new. But if I had the oportunity to get a set of 1 7/8 headers used for cheap, would it hurt performance in the begining, if so how much compared to the 1 3/4. Would I gain it back after the heads/cam?

Does anyone have any evidence of this, or is it all theoretical?

For stock cubes, most seem to agree that 1 3/4" is the way to go, even with heads and cam. I think the 1 7/8 would best be saved for big cube guys, unless you plan on spinning the motor extremely high. The smaller primaries should also leave you with much more low end torque than the larger pipes.
