Exclamation Catch can WTF Help please

Ok so I got a Rpmspeed catch can setup from WS6 store last week, Finally got the right size bolt today to mount the bracket. I hooked it up, and The car idle jumped about 350-450rpm upon start, and there was a HIGH pitch shriek from under the hood in the intake area;

Hooked up predator to do data<stfu its all I got>, It said the Intake Kpa was 100kpa or so, and something about misfires,<cant read all to the right it cuts off on screen> everything else looked like how it always reads, car ran like ****. Turned it off, reconnected stock pcv, ran fine, intake Kpa was at 28kpa idle.

Tried again, tightened fittings, car is 2002 z/28, Ran the Passenger side Pcv connection <that snakes along the side of intake from the back and ends in front> to the Top fitting on catch can with filter, ran the side lower fitting of catch can to the Pcv fitting on the intake behind the Tb where the stock connection is.

Pretty sure the lines were correct, swapped just in case, Smell and noise, turned off after 2 sec running. Put it back to stock for now, Ran fine for 5 min.

What The **** is going on?????? I have Longtube headers on, Hooker Super Comps. theres a tube on the passenger side Header that was bent out of the way and welded shut, pretty sure all the AIR system is in there still. I gave them the blockoff plates for egr/air but they didn't use em, those asshats also dented one of the Driver side primaries bad. it makes a godawful rasp flutter like baseball cards in bicycle spokes out the tailpipes when cruising low rpm.

Please Please share some insight Idk what is going on and WTH did I just waste Money on a catch can?? Hope I didn't damage my Baby.

UPDATE: local car club guy suggested a possible vacuum leak? i did just put on a ptb couple weeks ago, is that it??? or is it a gasket or?

Experts and smart guys Come on in and help a budding Gearhead out.

Thank you.

Respectfully,
RiceEaterZ.

Do you still have the line connecting the TB and valve cover? Where is the PCV valve? Which direction is it pointing?

the line as in the little 2inch hose that pulls off behind the tb? i put that aside and used the hose supplied with the kit. pcv valve i assume is the part that has the "nipple" on it its facing right towards the driver side,
I ran a hose from that to the in on the can and the out to the connection at the tb/intake.

i have the same can and havent had any problems with it.
for one the lines arent pushed on all the way also why is the line coming off the pcv valve bent is it the valve thats bent?
is the drain at the bottom of the can closed?
are all the fitting tight?
both ends of the can unscrew so also make shure those are tight.

1st off, i love the shocker on the oil cap.

2nd, you have a vacuum leak. Check and make sure everything is tight, hoses are on correctly and their isent a drain anywhere open.

Quick way to find a vac leak, take a can of brake cleaner while the car is idling and spray it on fittings/hoses. Engine will surge, BAM you found your leak!

PROTIP: Don't go crazy with it, use in short bursts.

THx man; Vacuum leak?, thats the 2nd person to say so. Makes sense,
it runs fine when the pcv is in the stock config. Every fittingwas tightened with wrenches before goin in yesterday.

Yup, vacuum leaks can be a pain sometimes, but i'm sure you'll figure out its something small/easy to fix.

Carb cleaner will work as well. But remember to use in short bursts. Actually, now that I think of it its better because some brake cleaners are non flammable.

Did you teflon tape the fittings on the catch can? That might be where you're leak is coming from.

Disconnect the catch can, and plumb your PCV back to the original throttle body connector. If the problem goes away, you know your catch can was the cause.

it is back at stock pcv setup and the can has been off since my first post, the mishap today on the way to dropoff leads me to believe its a vacuum leak in the intake track *maf/filter/tb/intake. I am waiting to see what he says, Thanks for all the suggestions guys
