You can see off the cat there is still some aluminum pipe, this will be replaced soon, he didn't have enough stainless at the time and did what we could.

That is a sweet car, and how much was it to powdercoat your valve covers and intake manifold?

Powdercoat??? I painted the valvecovers with High Temp Engine paint, and the manifold in the pics was a lingenfelter aluminum intake, but I have since then gone to a ported and hogged out LS6 intake.

Hmm.. under the rear axle. Had any problems with that yet while driving around? Why don't more people do this?

Haven't had any problems, I don't have the y-pipe bang or anything. No clearance issues what so ever, I got the idea from another guy that did it on LS1.com, I've actually seen a few people do it now.

Looks great!

Couple questions. Is the flow area through the X pipe equal to or greater than two 2 1/2" tubes? Has the X been ground out intermally to minimumize turbulance? Often those X pipes have a lot of weld slag or build up inside that can creat a restriction.

The bends look good even though some appear not to be mandrel bent. He does good work!

Ya no mandrel bent pipes, no one here can do them. The X looks great on the inside, I personally checked it out before they welded everything else onto it. As for the flow I can't say, it does look pretty open in it tho. But not sure about the flow throught it, I do know it made a big diff in power, that's all I care lol.

That is cool going under the axle I have wondered about that myself cause It would be nice to quiet this thing down a little.

3" headers + cats + 2 1/2" non mandrel tubes = very restricted flow. Why not go 3"?
You engine needs a lot more flow than that.

Looks good. My setup is 3 in under the axle but I gave the axle a little more room to move. I never scrape since the exhaust settled, but I am at stock ride height. The only drawback with a setup like this is you have to remove the exhaust if you go to lift the car. Or you can always put flanges before the axle and make only that part removable. But its worth it as its much cheaper than going over the axle and quiets the car down making duals fine for everyday driving including traffic.

going under the axle is a little too hairy for me i could just picture going over a big bump and crushing the backhalf of the exhaust lol.

Looks like the bends are twisted out to a 45 degree angle or something...looks like it created more clearance that way....clean set up!

Looks good man, I would think that that would be hell on clearence, espically with you going under the axle like that. Nice setup though

I haven't had any clearance issues yet, actually better clearance than the y-pipe setup I had.
