How do I knock just a few more tenths off my 1/8th in a stock SS??
I need to drop a few more tenths off my time for somebody im running at the local track here. It is actually a little shorter than a 1/8 mile. I ran a 7.42.. I may be off 1 or 2 hundredths. But I am 100% stock, 6 speed. And I only barely redline 2nd at the end of the track. Yea.. I know. I have loooooong gears. I only cut like a 2.15 60 foot. I am on a BALD Nitto dr. I am full weight. All I have done is descreened the maf and put a new FRAM air filter in it. Got any ideas? I need it by tomorrow night so I am probably gonna have to resort to some sort of free mod or weight reduction. What yall think?

Well, better launch for sure would help. I'm just worried about my rear end. Better driving? Well, not much driving involved, I only shift once. lol. Is it hard to take off the front sway bar? I was wondering if I should try that.

This track is not 1/8 mile. Its the Byram, MS track which is like 550 feet. Sorry for misleading.. No, its NO 1/8 mile. More like 1/9 mile. lol. But I was thinkin I may take out the air filter. JUST for that pass. How do I cut the airbox? I havent done that "free mod" yet. And hell, I've got almost a damn full tank now. Don't think I even WANNA waste that much gas b4 tomorrow night.

Here's one pass I made. You can see that I dont hit 2nd gear til almost midway down. Btw, to show how short it is, I come RIGHT to the top of second thru the finish line. just fyi. This was a SLOW pass. Only a 7.8 with like a 2.4 60 foot. haha! It was bad I know. Against a 94 Mustang GT. ToNS of weight reduction. 5 speed. Full bolt ons. And yes, my stock car outran him. Then my next pass, ran a 7.42 at 75.8 mph.

And I will say that I've had quite a few people ride in my car and say that it feels a LOT faster than a stock LS1. I outran an auto car from 40, lid, intake, exhaust car.. Strolled on by him like it was nothing.

I wouldn't mess with the airbox unless you plan on doing some type of ram air, otherwise you're just pulling in more hot air which won't help anything. Just pull some weight out and practice your launches.

Ok man, I sure appreciate it. I've been heating up the Nitto's pretty good. And I leave at about 3 grand but I'm still bogging, as you can tell, I've heard, leave higher up and dump the clutch. Well, I'm slipping the clutch pretty hard as is. BUT, I dont wanna leave TOO high and dead hook and SNAPPP!

Hate to sound like too much of a NOOB but exactly how do u remove the sway bar? Now here's a gay question, sway bar is directly under back of motor? Kinda where the tranny comes in? Bar that goes from one side to other around bottom of motor? Or am I way the hell off? Anybody got a pic?

the sway bar is the bar that is right under the engine it hooks up to the front arms 2 other places in the middle of the bar. all you gotta do is take off the the long bolts that connect it to the a-arm just make sure u need to use a wrench to old the nut so the bolt wont just turning without getting loose just also make sure u put the bushings and washers in order so u don't for have to 2 brackets in they have 2 bolts each you don't need to hold anything from on top of these.
