Default LS6 Intake

Would you guys agree that an LS6 intake only makes a difference of about 4rwhp on a 2000 SS?

From what I understand, it's closer to about 10rwhp, but I could be wrong. It doesn't really overly shine until you get different heads and a aftermarket cam profile.

Yeah I know it would make a bigger difference with heads and cam, but GM only increased the horsepower rating by 5 once they added that. I realize GM under-rates, so maybe someone could back up blackhawk777?

It will do better than 4whp even on a stock cam. I was at 331whp with mids, cutout, lid, pulley. Believe i went up to low 340's with the LS6 intake, I want to say like 343, netting me 10-15whp with those other mods.

I dyno'd an LS6 intake on my own car back in 02'ish. It made 9 more rwhp with zero tuning adjustments. With today's tuning knowledge/tech it probably would have been closer to 12-15rwhp. This was on a stock internal 98 FYI.

As the intakes were introduced the factory cam got smaller so there's your reasoning for the only 5 hp increased in advertised power.

It netted me a consistent .05 at the track. But I also gained throttle response throughout the rev range in everyday driving. Definitely worth it.

It gave me a full tenth at the track back when I had a small 221/221 cam.

I read somewhere in a magazine or something that the reason the 01-02 Camaros didn't make more power then the older LS camaros because they were given a smaller lift cam, to make up for the addition of the LS6 intake, so that they could make the same power as the older LS Camaros.

I knew they made the cam size smaller so all that does make sense.. so an LS6 intake makes a bigger difference in 98-00 camaros. That makes sense.

I put one on with a ported throttle body and noticed a big difference.
