Guys with ORY come in
Debating whether or not to go ory or catted y from TSP. My questions for you guys runnng the ory do you get the gas smell inside your car? What about the loudness? Is it unbearable? I have a tame catback for cruising but opens up when i get on it. running the Random Technologies 3 in catback. My main concern is the gas smell because it is a daily driver and the cruiser occasionally with the family.

I never had the gas smell in my car. Before i threw KOOKS cats on my exhaust i had LTs, ORY, and Corsa - after installing the cats it cleaned up the sound under acceleration in a high gear.

This was a big concern of mine when I was deciding on an ORY or not because I had an old Carb'd firebird with duals and no cats and man did the inside of that car smell. Surprisingly with this car and an ORY it doesnt smell. Every now and then if I have the windows down I catch a small wiff but not often. i have it going through a stock catback so its definitely not too loud.

i have pacesetters ory and LT's, and every once in a while it smells, but thats because im just using cheap clamps, and the sound is not that loud at all. my car is dumped at the rear end, and i think its rather quiet.

I love the way my cars smell w/o cats.
But no I dont smell any of them inside the car, its pretty intense if you stand behind them however.
Rasp on the other hand. O M G. So effing bad with the LM1 I have. It sounds ******* horrible. Temped to put a dump on the end of the Y or something because its loud AND sounds like **** with the LM1, couldnt sound any worse with just a turn down hahaha.

Yeah, the rasp will be more annoying than the gas smell, if you go ORY, I would have a Flowmaster Merge installed to eliminate the rasp. If you go with a catted Y, you shouldn't have any rasp problems. Or, you can put a bullet in the I-pipe and that will help eliminate rasp too.
I had bad gas smell with my ORY, but my tune was outta whack. With the new tune, hardly any gas smell.

First time I tried ORY smell was a factor and it would be insanely bad to be the guy behind me at a stoplight running A/C. I had GMMG and then Hooker Aerochamber and had loudness and rasp - esp. w/GMMG - along with the smell.
After running a catted Y for a couple of years, I had a new 3" into 3.5" ORY built with FM merge. With a 22" Hooker Maxflow muffler, it's not loud at all and no rasp. Tuning has helped with the smell, but it's still there.
The point: with a good merge and the right muffer, sound can be controlled. You'll always have some smell, but it can be kept below the obnoxious level - for you, at least, if not the car behind you.

I get the fuel smell pretty bad a lot of the time... always when stopped at a light or whatever. I recommend going cats, then just add some electric cutouts so you have the best of both worlds. I don't think the sound is an issue... As long as you have a decent muffler on it.

my wife starts complaining all the time about the smell, however thats because windows are down and im idling for long periods of time in traffic in the summer, etc.
My setup is stock quiet with the cutout closed and loud with the cutout open.

I got a tsp ory and tsp rumblers and it smells bad outside of the car and once and awhile inside I still have the crappy clamps it came with. is that why it leaks a crap load of gas?
