finally gave in huh? lol What was your rpo code anyways in your door? did they match up to FE2?

yea there was a code on the door that said FE2 so i don't know what was going on lol

How much was the fix with the rack and pinion/steering shaft???

Glad to hear you found a solution and got it together.

What I don't understand is how after all the header installs on the forums, this is the first I (and many others) have heard of this issue.

i got the rack and pinion from a salvage yard locally for 80 bucks

I had no install probelms with my 99 SS and my option code is FE4 not FE2

What happened is the F41 rack that was in his car is the V6 application with less angle in the pinion- which happens to sell for ~$150.
The FE rack with the angled pinion costs ~$250. I think it's safe to assume that it failed with a previous owner and the cheaper one fit so they went with it. With the stock manifold it isn't a problem- different with headers.
