Default Temp Sensor, Passenger Side Head

I'm wondering about drilling & tapping the 12mm hole on the passenger side head for my 3/8NPT temp sensor to work for my Jeep gauges. The engine is out but it's very low KM so I don't want to pull the head to do it. Is it possible to do this without getting shavings in there? As it is now I have 3 fittings to make it work on my 5.3l but it reads way out.

Ive never done it, but it should work fine.

Put a fair amount of white grease on the bits when your drilling/tapping them and along with going at a slower pace, the shavings will get stuck in the grease and not into the coolant passage.
