Default Fix Cracked FAST 90 intake

My buddy's 02 Procharged Trans Am has a FAST 90 intake manifold and last week on the backside of the intake manifold it cracked and broke a chunk out of the back. I was wondering if there is any way to fix the intake (plastic weld, epoxy, etc?) or should he not chance it and fork out the dough for a new one?

There was a guy here that tried to repair a cracked FAST and was not successfull. He was not FI either i'd say the fact your buddy is running boost is gonna pretty much rule out any fixes.

where is it cracked? maybe replace the upper shell only

or buy an aluminum intake instead and sell the lower/middle shell

have him look into a Vic jr. or GMMP intake for FI they are great. He can also get a ls6 intake and call it a day.

I wouldn't use a broken fast with boost even if it was fixed. Also Fast used to sell just the bottom piece, but doen't offer it anymore, he may be able to hit up a couple of the sponsors and see if they have one left over and be able to fix it cheaply and fix it right.

The problem with a boosted motor is that the intake manifold will not only see boost, but also vacuum, so it's going to get pushed/pulled and never hold up after being fixed.

I've heard people say that there isn't much difference between the fast and a ls6 intake when you go into boost, so an ls6 intake may be a good alternative.

I would just get the new FAST 102mm, it can handle more boost than the old 90mms. They say its good to 67psi, I could tell just by holding it was a much more solid piece.

Devcon 5 minutes 2 part epoxy...make sure to sand and rough the surface up...also 1/16 holes help too if need be...worked great on my intake when I wanted to over port some areas and fill some in... I am n/a though...

Is it really worth it if something brakes free and gets ingested?

ya once you go boosted it really doesnt matter what intake you use, there wont be that big deal of a difference, not like heads, and the fast from what i have heard doesnt stand up well against boost or nitrous when it backfires into the intake, and your friends intake just proved it. if anything i would look into an aluminum, maybe a bit heavier but heavier is sturdier and is more resilient.
