Default Need advise/help asap (header bolt)

I was replacing the passenger side header gasket. The second bolt from the front wont go in. It only goes in 2/3 of way. What do I do now? Should I add washers to it and call it a day? Im at work and need to get home.

Get a tap and clean out the threads. There isn't any thing broke off in that hole is there?

Not that I could feel. I've swapped out bolts and they go in fine on the other holes. This is the only one causing issues. What exactly is a tap?

How does the tap kit work? How is it going to fix the problem. I found nothing on google.

A tap is used to cut threads. So if some of the threads are messed up in your head, then tapping it should clean it up. If there is part of a broken bolt in there you'd have to drill it out first THEN tap it which is probably impossible with engine in car. I'd just use some washers and call it a day.

THanks buddy. It took 7 washers but no leaks. Sounds great. I'll do the tap thing soon. For now this will have to do. .70 cents sounded pretty good for a quick fix. Oh and by the way, the bolt didn't break it just was a bitch to getting it in. I rushed it and messed the treads. Glad it can be fixed. Thanks again.
