Default question on these parts..

what is the difference between a underdrive pulley, ballancer, and a dampener? are they all the same?

Underdrive pulleys are a kit of pulleys designed to run the accessories at a slower speed to prevent them from robbing the engine from a few horses.
A damper is designed to absorb the vibrations of the crankshaft.
A balancer is designed to help keep the crankshaft balanced as it rotates to prevent unwanted vibrations which could cause harm to the bearings or crankshaft itself.

when talking about the crank underdrive pulley it is basically the same same thing. It just replaces the stock balancer and dampner

has anyone ever had problems with a underdrive pulley on a ls1? i've always heard of horror storys on other motors that have used underdrive pullies that crank walking or the motor going bad
