Question Best Brand for a Head Gasket??

Own a 2000 Trans Am and I am completeing a LS6 conversion...243 heads, LS6 intake, long tubes with an MS4 Cam. I am currently trying to understand what head gasket to go with. I hear that Fel-pro is not a very good choice and that cometic is OK.

Is there a better gasket than cometic?

GM did there homework when the made the LSX motors, and did not skimp on the head gaskets. if you are not trying to bump the compression any then i would use the Stock GM MLS .051 head gasket. if you want more compression then use the Cometic MLS head gaskets.

Either GM MLS or dum dum dum Fel-pro MLS. They do make those. Everyone associates Fel-pro with the crappy silver head-gaskets but thats not all they do folks.

Let me add another tidbit. You need to have the heads milled flat. MLS gaskets are less forgiving to wavy surfaces. Lots of people say cometics leak....the reason is bc they are excessively thin and MLS style gaskets. Makes it very hard for them to do their job. Don't wanna mill flat? Use the shitty silver $10 gaskets. They will forgive you.

We have always used GM MLS gaskets on setup like that and never had any issues. Maintaining stock clearance on a setup like that is pretty important in my opinion.
