Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried running their car without cats and without a muffler? I've got borla, and I was thinking of taking the muffler out, and replacing it with a straight pipe. I've tried searching the tube to see how it would sound, but its hard to track down. Would it be too raspy? or would it sound like the open plate side?

I got a set of pacesetters coated, in to 3 inch, back to 2.5 pipe no cats or muffler.
I brought the car like this . Having no cats and muffler bad? I herd no back pressure can hurt the valves. My friend told me I spit flames out the exhaust last night. Smoked him badly that's how he saw. Thanks fellas

1) what headers you have
Hooker Super Competition Block Hugger Headers; 1.625" Primary Tubes; 2.5" x 6" Collector
2) what Y pipe or X/H pipe you have
None
3) what catback you have
None
4) what cats your running
None
5) any tuning you did/needed
So far just stock LS1 Corvette Tune
6) any verifiable dyno gains due to your exhaust setup.
None (unless you count that before the LS1 swap, the car had 89hp)
7) small review (or large if you like) of your over all setup, any tips you'd like to add concerning the combination.
Given that this setup is for a DeLorean, block hugger headers were the only option due to space restraints. The headers are actually reversed (right header on left head, left header on right head) so that instead of going to the back of the engine (like in a front engine setup), they go toward the front, therefore going toward the back of the car. Left and right piping is completely separate and leads almost directly into Jegs Flowpack Bullet Mufflers. Piping was custom with O2 bungs welded on. Piping is 2".
8) would you recommend your setup to somebody else.
Only if you've got these same space restrictions.
Pics in the attachments.

1) I installed pacesetter amor coated longtube headers TODAY!
2) pacesetter off road y pipe
3) I do not have yet but will have a magnaflow cat back in about two days
4) I will be running a magnaflow high flow "spun" cat
5) have not but will get a tune by FROST once exhaust and intake are completed
6) have not dyno'd yet
7) i installed the longtube headers and y pipe today and it was not hard at all just time consuming and hard on the hands. The install took about 10 hours and that included also swapping motor mounts (which may have taken more time than headers). I did this on a lift in a local shop. The headers fit like a glove. I would recommend investing in amor coated headers or ceramic painted (same thing) headers, not just black painted because the paint will fade and they will rust. I also would recommend using band clamps for the exhaust, not the conventional clamps because 1) it will save your pipes from being crushed 2) it will make for an easier uninstall in the future and 3) they look professional!
8) although many people bad mouth pacesetter i would most certainly recommend them they worked perfectly for me and were cheaper than most alternatives and haven't figured out why they have a bad rep.

8) Definitely! This set up sounds amazing, almost no drone, used to be at around 2000 rpms now it's moved down to about 1500 rpms because of the cam but nowhere near as bothersome as it was before with the stock cam and SLP loudmouth.

Driver side Headers rubbed the k member, had to have them worked over.
Sounds amazing, loud, very loud at full throttle, but hardly noticeable with the windows up.

Yes, I would prefer it a tad louder at idle, but I think longtubes will take care of that.

1. Stock exhaust manifolds
2. Stock Y pipe
3. SLP Powerflo catback with the LMII bullet in the I-pipe swapped with a Borla XR-1
4. Stock cats
5. No tuning
6. No dyno comparison
7. This exhaust setup provides a unique sound which is more comparable to a Corvette than your average F body. It has no rasp under any conditions. It has no drone at all. It is not very loud at idle or cruising speeds but it gets very loud from 2,000-6,000 rpm.
8. I would recommend this setup to somebody who prefers a refined sound and behavior as opposed to the typical choices for these cars.

Was wondering what the difference between the $850-950 Kooks LTs and the $1300 ones are? As shown here :

1) Flowtech ceramic coated offroad long tube headers.
2) Flowtech ORY
3) Corsa Sport Cat-back (With quad 3.5 inch tips)
4) ORY
5) Stock tune
6) No dyno runs but noticable gains.
7) The car (I personally) sounds very good. Different from anything else you will hear. Somewhat similar to what some of the new Camaros sound like. At idle car is not too loud but is noticeable. Cruising is nice but again noticeable and not stupid crazy loud. Under acceleration, it does get quite loud. From about 1500 - 2000 it gets very noticable, 2500+ it gets very very loud. Around 3500 - 4500 it gets a bit raspy but does sound good. (Not rasp like an old chevy 350 with glasspacks).
ZERO drone on highway, nice sound when accelerating inside car (Easy or hard right foot) but outside - most people wont like you
8) Exhaust sounds very good and when going easy it will not give you any trouble. Recommend to anyone. Is on the louder end of the spectrum, however.

Not sure of gains. But put down 336/347
It sounds great cruising around and under light throttle. But once you get on it, it's so loud to the point where you cause a scene and possible unwanted attention.
