Talking Mufflex Cat Deletes & Stock Exhaust w/Cutout

Just in case you wondered what it might sound like (take the highest resolution for the best sound)...

Note: Video was taken from a "cold start", idling down to programmed idle (~650rpm), then rev'd to 1500rpm, 2000rpm, 4000rpm and 5000rpm. The car is still untuned and the battery was just reconnected prior to this video so the fuel trims are still out of whack; hence the "smoke".

So do you think those cat deletes are woth the money? They are quite pricey for what they are.

I have them with JBAs, just swapped on recently. This
is louder than the previous Jet-Hot long tubes / Y, and
a 2500-RPM range rasp is gone.

I had bought some no-name cat deletes years back and
they did not fit right (bad angle bends, not stainless)
and the Mufflex are straight & proper.

I did find that mine (bought secondhand) had what
seemed to be a "pipe taper" in the passenger's side
O2 bung. Had a weak feel to it and I could only tighten
the sensor a bit before feeling thread creep. The O2
sensor blew out of the hole at WOT (still a bit of back
pressure in the system, but you could say the JBAs
are keeping the pipe full at least). I took out the
O2 sensor washers, thread engagament at the bottom
of the hole is way better, and it's holding fine (with
some "safety wire" (1/16" SS welding rod) for luck.

You don't find them used too often, I waited about a
year before a pair turned up, but worth the used price
for sure. Hollow cats I ran before were boomy and still
have a greater airflow resistance (measurable) than
plain pipe.

If I was sure the Smog ***** would never return I'd just
get a stock-logs ORY (keeping the shorties) at about
the same price. But being able to swap back & forth
has some value to those poor bastages in Nanny states.

I took the car for a drive yesterday evening and it was fun. I am going to cap the cutout and take it back out to compare. At speed the car is manageable (for the sake of a conversation), and when you hit the throttle it is all smiles for miles.

The whole reason we did this was for the ability to swap back to the cats when it is time for emissions. That was the motivating factor. The car is so low that you can't tell the cats are missing. LOL.
