I currenly have a old true dual setup on my 98 z/28 that i want to replace with a inexpensive full system. The problem is they welded the pipe to the headers, so i am wondering if i can put flanges on the headers and the y pipe. I have an exhaust shop that can do the tips and the mid pipe and i plan on putting in a cutout. I have e-bay full lengths, just wondering what muffler i should buy without tips and which y pipe will fit with my headers. Thank you

First off why you wanting to get rid of the true duels? I beleive they out flow most cat back set ups. Second, since you have ebay headers im not sure if you can buy a y pipe that would fit them right, your best bet would be to go to an exhaust shop and have them fab one up for you.

Having ebay headers is a toss up of whick y pipe will fit,he fit a tsp ory on my buddys ebay header and it worked fine,a cheap set up which would be a tsp ory,and a used slp lm1,you can get them all day for 150,but to note on that ,its the worst setup soundwise

There is a magnaflow weld in for sale in parts,cheapest set up would be a bullet dumped off the y but I know you said you want tail pipes

IMO, magnaflow f.t.w....

They are stainless so wont rust out
million mile warranty if anything happens
very free flowing
not obnoxious like true duals
if you want it louder, just add a cutout before the muffler
priced right, not crazy expensive

^ yeah that's a killer deal,I love magnaflow,good tone,nice and quite,with a cut out you have the option to be loud and then to turn it off,something you don't have with duals,or a loudmouth, but duals still own all period lol

Im with him^cats suck.
I got my pacesetters and tsp ory new for under 500. Plugs, and o2 extentions with it.
Had my borla already on the car.
Cheap y pipe = tsp ory
cheap exhaust = used in f/s forum or if you really can still get that mag from the ws6 store price then thats a killer deal. IDkwhy its so cheap there.

In most, if not all states, relocated aftermarket high flow cats are no more legal than straight catless.

So the whole legal point is useless as even long tubes with catted mids are technically illegal. Yes they do cut rasp and sound slightly deeper than straight pipes.

My buddy has my same set up with out cats and that sounds like junk to me. It crackles, rasps out, pops, and the exhaust smells.

If you want a single exit 3" in/out, a Hooker Maximum Flow is a great choice, or Magnaflow. If you want 3" in/dual 2.5" out, the f-body specific Hooker Aerochamber or Magnaflow will work at @ $100 each. Thunder Racing carries those.
