Default 6L truck headers

l have a Monza 75 fast back with stock 6L truck engine. Question, would it help to install a set of headers? l ran it on the El Mirage dry lake bed and shifted at 6K and went through the lights at 5800, speed 158mph. Exhaust now is stock truck.

fitment would be biggest issue. ---- i would think a better choice would be mac or other midlength headers. --- next choice would be shorties. last choice would be expensive custom made headers. --- if you got a buddy with long, mid or shorties, i would see if i could try theirs out, at least driver's side which is usually the most complicated one due to steering shaft. --- good luck and let me know how that works out.....rob

Default headers

l guess my question is will the performance of that stock 6L motor improve much if l install truck headers. Ground clearance is very little so l have the stock exhaust up side down facing forward and up with the exhaust goes up and out in front of the front tires. Looks like a car with turbos ha

If you think that 20-25rwhp is "much" then yes.

If you don't think that 20-25rwhp is "much" then no.

agreed, it depends on what you see is worth it or not. A cam could gain you 30 horsepower or so with stock manifolds.

IMO LT headers are a must if you plan to modify these engines. Average pick up is 20-30rwhp so IMO its one of the best bang for your buck modifications you can do on these motors, not to mention they are needed to make good power with most other aftermarket parts.
