Default BBK LTs pics out of box and clearance

Just put a set of BBK ceramic coated LTs and y pipe on 98 ta with 82000 miles. Did not use new motor mounts and everything bolted up real nice and easy and have plenty of clearance. Also car is on stock suspension as well

pics are taken with iphone will try and get sound clips up asap

drivers side clearance
passenger side
y pipe clearance

Only had to extend the drivers side o2 and it was probably id guess 1 to 1 1/2 ft

I've been debating on buying these when I get paid for my z28. What gaskets and headerbolts did you use? Also how did you get your y pipe into the I pipe of your exhaust? I have lm1
And I heard that it needs to be welded or clamped really well where it meets the I pipe.

I'm planning on doing my LT's this weekend, how high did you need to get the car to get them in or were you lucky enough to have a lift handy? Also did you have to remove you steering shaft? I've heard yes and no on that topic and just curious of your experience.

Great ground clearance, looks good.
IMO, what I did with the Y-pipe is paint it good with some VHT +1300 silver header paint. Dupli-Color 1200* silver paint will also work good if you can find it.

Try and get the front high enough so you have 1ft of clearance below the front tires at full droop.

same gaskets from factory, same headbolts also. Sprayed penetrator and let em sit and they all came out fine. No on the steering column removal and used truck lift and jackstands. I am running open y so no help on the lm1 sorry. I will say this they fit better than my pacesetters did on my last one

Yeah, I did it for a little added protection, that's all.
So what do you plan on running after the Y-pipe merger exit, dump setup w/bullet muffler or cat-back system?

Would you guys say someone could do the install that has never done it before? I really don't want to take it somewhere I would rather do it myself

Looks good, I had the same set up on my T/A with a magnaflow dumped and am currently waiting on my bbk lt's to get here from the ws6store for my z28. I loved the way my T/A sounded, no rasp at all.

^ They are 1 3/4"... I have the same setup, but I went with the chrome ones. The install was really easy, even for my first time with a 4th gen, and the fit is second to none on everything. I really thought the install was gonna fight me more than it did, I had to bend the heat shields slightly to keep them from rattling, but the hardest part was getting the stock exhaust off, esp. the stock Y at the manifolds. Nothing a Sawzall didn't fix though lol.

yea you could do it one person, might be good to grab a neighbor when your putting the lts up into the engine bay. just helps to have someone up there to hold onto em when you send em up and bolt em up, otherwise your trying to get em to hold up on their own and risk em faling back down and breaking something. be sure to check out a good write up on the install jus for backup

i am probably doing a bullet and turndown next. i ran my last one open y for almost a year and loved it everyday. The bbks sound great only thing i havent enjoyed is when you let off gas and let it idle down the rumble it gives back kinda sounds booboo so i find neutral alot quicker now lol but start up and idle sounds great on em and when you WOT it wakes up

I see that you have slp lm how was the fitment bolting the y to the i pipe of the catback? Did you clamp it or weld it? I heard the collector of the y and the i pipe are exactly the same size.

I always test all the pieces that are suppose to be slip fit and clamp install. That way if any pieces don't slip fit I just take those pieces to my local muffler shop and have them slightly expand any pipes that need it to fit together correctly. IMO get the Y-pipe merger exit welded with 3 good spot welds (left, right, an bottom).
