Default FIPK back to LID!! (opinions/options)

I will be swapping back to a lid configuration. From research i think it will be a better option.

right now i have a h/c/i car. i have a ported fast 92 with a 95mm TB. right now I have the stock MAF and the K&N fipk (came on the car). I know for sure It's holding me back, mostly the MAF

I've got a WS6 lower air box coming.

I'm thinking of going to a FTP 104mm lid and a 4in LS7 maf.

i've seen people complain about tuning problems with the LS7 maf and a 98 pcm....not sure what to think...if it can be done or not.

other option was to do a lid, maybe even a 98mm with a 85mm truck maf. i know either combination will get me more power. but the 104/ls7 will net the best gains. im planning a stroker in the near future and dont want to re-do things if i dont have to.

i will also be dyno testing results when i swap them...

Unless you're over 450 at the rear wheels, I see no reason to worry about the MAF...

i should be close to 450...not sure. hitting the dyno soon.

so you think just go straight SD tune???

idk, i like the idea of the maf...i can always get the maf and have an SD tune as well...turn it off and on if needed...

The tuning issues everyone is having can be solved by getting a Saxon airflow straightner, essentially a MAF screen but much more flow than a stock screen. Get the full 4 inch intake tract, it cant hurt you

Do you have a WS6 hood? If not, you can't use the lower air box. It won't clear a stock trans am hood.

FYI, I was on my phone and couldn't see your sig so, yes it was a serious question. Now that I'm on a computer I can see you have a WS6 in your sig.

more info on the LS7 MAF on a 98? would definately appreciate it if it is a cost effective option compared to an aftermarket MAF.

as far as cost effective...so far im saying yes! i did this on the cheap.
most of my cost is because i never had a lid when i bought the car. so i have to get the lower air box and a lid.

tuning-seen people have luck tuning these. i have my own hptuners so i can also build a nice speed density tune as well. im excited to have 104>100>95>95 as my intake tract instead of K&N oblong filter...>75mm maf>95>95

got my lid the other day!

only problem-my maf housing is 3 15/16 and the ftp lid is 4 1/8...as per instructions im going to put either elecrical tape around the housing for a tight fit or some window/door insulation from home depot!

all i need now is a 4 inch coupler, air filter, and the pigtail.

ill be updating the thread with pictures and dyno results also!
