Default swapped 98 SS motor and trans to a 2000 Z28 and now no gauges?

I recently bought a roller 2000 Z28 that has a better body then my 98 SS so I swapped my engine and trans into the 2000 and everything snapped right together except one plug inside the right hand kick panel.... any one know if that extra plug is for the traction control or for the gauges??

The wiring harness for 98's is different and will not work with newer cars... hence your gauges not working.

Bingo. The oil pressure sensor is different also.

Bad idea, you should've put your wiring harness in that car. The wiring is different in a ton of areas. Another thing that was different was the coolant sensors, I am familiar with the wiring differences due to my 96 Z28 where I did the wiring for a 98 PCM/Harness into it.

well I'm not having issues with coolant and oil sensors. the oil and coolant read fine. but no tach, speedo, abs light, srs, check engine? The engine and trans and ecu and wiring harness are all the 98 I'm not using the 2000 engine, ecu, harness,or trans. The only difference I noticed is just that one extra plug off the 98 harness. I read somewhere last night I can make a overlay harness to use that extra plug from the 98? anyone done or tried it?

Yes the plug in the kick panel controls the gauges and that's why you are having the issue.
