Default Mid/Low 12 sec. daily driver questions

Hey guys. Just posted this over in internal modifications and realized it belonged here :

Been awhile since I've been on here. I sold my '99 SS about two years ago now and am finally looking at getting back into a 4th gen F body. I'm currently in Afghanistan, but my tour is over in less than 3 months. That being said, I have somebody looking at a car for me back home as we speak.

The car is an '99 Trans Am, pewter. 66K miles and the guy is asking $10k. I talked him down a little bit on the price and I'm going to ****** this up.

Im looking to make this a consistant mid 12 car. I will be driving the car daily.

My current plans are as follow : TSP 1 3/4 stainless headers, TSP catted Y, SLP LMI catback, ported TB, and tune by Speed Inc. Also will be lowering the car on all 4 corners with QA1 single adjustable shocks and BMR lowering springs. Also plan on doing full rear suspension, everything BMR. LCA, subframe connectors, sway bar, etc.

I was curious as to whether or no you guys think I will be at my goal with the mods listed? I was thinking that should probably get a stall as well. Most likely will go with the Yank SS3200. However, I am going to wait to get the stall. I don't think the 10 bolt will hold up too well with a stall and ful suspension. So within about 5 months I will buy a Moser 12 bolt and stall.

All of these mods, except for the 12 bolt and stall, will be done within a month of my return to the states. The funds for the rest should be there within 4 months. Would you guys reccomend I just wait to do suspension until I get the 12 bolt? That way I can just get the LCA relo brackets welded onto it and whatever else. Or will the bolt on relo brackets and all other suspension parts works directly with the moser 12 bolt?

Again, what does everyone think as far as reaching my goal with said mods?

I apologize if this question has already been asked, as I'm sure it has. Unfortunately my internet connection out here is incredibly slow and the search feature will not load.

I appreciate everyones help in advance!

i would also do a ls6 intake and wait on the lower control arm brackets because if you buy a new moser they will install them free of charge on there rearends which saves you about 70 bucks

Any exhaust/any catback + 3000 or higher stall + sticky tires will go mid 12's in decent air quality.

I was able to get down to 12.15 at 111 with my 99 with LS6 intake, headers/LM2 catback, drag radials, 3.73's and 3200 stall. Some new shocks and strano springs, thats about it. Good air tho, -500+ DA in TX

In PA, where its 1800 ft + DA it will go mid 12's.

Stock rear is fine. DOZENS of passes on my car with 60's in the 1.6-1.8 range and holding fine. I run the same stock rear in my turbo car that has seen many 1.5x 60 foots and 9 sec slips. Its seen a few 1.4x 60's as well

Sorry guys, forgot to put the ls6 intake in there. Absolutely buying one.

At first I am going to do the exhaust, intake, TB, tune, suspension, and wheels/tires. Once more funds are here I will go ahead and get a stall.

as far as the car goes i can def say those mods will get you in the 12's no prob just make sure u have some good slicks as well, as far as suspension goes i would do that first then get the 12 later

I'm actually stationed in Ft. Lewis, Wa. Just outside of seattle. I'm from cedar lake, Indiana though. I see you're from Joliet. Thats about an hour away.

I actually just got the T/A from a dealer in Joliet. Bill Jacobs Kia Subaru. Hopefully you dont have any horror stories about them?

10 bolt will be fine behind the auto. Go with a 3600 converter, spring for the 1 7/8 headers, and a good tire and it will go mid/low 12s all day every day full weight. Here's some ideas to help you out.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...pics-vids.html

And please don't go with a Moser 12 bolt, opt for a Strange unit....they are better quality IMO.

Without a stall low 12s will not happen.... with a stall and a tire, low 12's will easily happen.

The main thing on your list I would NOT get is the loudmouth. It will sound bad with the long tubes. Go with a higher quality cat-back.

Also do not be afraid to go with a 3600 stall on a stock 10 bolt... do you have the optional 3.23 gears already?

Lid, ls6 intake, long tubes, cat-back, 3600 stall, full suspension, and a DR will almost guaranteed be low low 12's.

To each their own on the Loudmouth, I had longtubes and a LM1 on my '99 SS, with a catted y, and I liked the sound. I think with an off road Y they are way too raspy, but with the cats it wasn't too bad. Plus, you can beat the price. If after awhile I don't like the sound, I will cut out the resonators and weld in some Borla xr-1's.

94z28 - You guys know exaclty where you're going yet? Im in Southwest Helmand, Camp leatherneck. Sucks out here

I actually think I have seen your SS on post before. Are you on north fort alot? Believe I have seen it at the PX a few times.

Nothing beats the lm1 imo and I have heard every catback on an ls1. I have had the lm with cats and I think it sounds alot meaner with the off road pipes.

Default WITH OUR TUNE, LOW, LOW 12s

With the parts you plan to buy, plus a fast intake and tb, along with a
CBM tune low 12s even high 11s is possible with correct susp. set up.
Thanks

Thanks for your service man, my moms Retired Army, Desert Storm Vet.

As for the car, I think that mod list will definitely do bottom 12's, especially if you decide to go a tad higher on the stall. I would think it'd run 12.8's on street tires, and with the drag radials/stall combo maybe a 12.3? Depends on if you can get good air where you're at too..
