Default Hooker Aerochamber Catback Review

Hey guys,

I recently bought a used (1500 mile) Hooker CB from a member.

Installation was straightforward. I still have to adjust my Corsa Clone tips, I ran out of daylight and have to adjust the tailpipes to line up perfectly.

This is a quiet catback. I absolutely love it. It has a little more aggressive tone at idle (not much), and gets louder at WOT. My friend who installed it for me couldn't get over how "right" it sounded in the 3k-4k RPM's. Perfect for me, I do not want to be waking up the neighborhood.

I know with a new y-pipe and headers, she will sound even better.

Just my two cents,
Kenny D

this vid is hooker catback, exhaust cut out open with slp lid nothing else.

This vid is full bolt ons, LT's, ORY, cut out hooker catback.

This vid is on the dyno, almost full bolt ons, just missing LT's, ORY and SSRA

Its not the best audio, some may like it or not. It will give you an idea of how it will kinda sound like with different mods.

LOL, I haven't even taken pictures of my car yet...video maybe sometime?

To my defense, you can't get a good idea on a youtube video....you gotta hear it in person. I spent days (well, hours...but throughout a few days) on youtube...gotta hear it in person! I just had a Hooker Aerochamber muffler on my LT1 Caprice, and fell in love with that...so just as well put it on the LS1!!!!!

If you saw my sig, you can see that is my only exhaust mod...for now

Same set up here, it's quiet to me but that's what I wanted plus it sounds way better than my LM1. If I ever get around to sticking a cam in there it'll sound a lot better.

Well of course a LM1 is louder, its basically a glass pack compared to a chambered muffler. But IMO anyway the Hooker sounds better. I cannot stand the damn raspy uncontrolled exhaust note that exhaust produces. Some love it, some hate it.

OP, it'll really wake up once you add LT's & ORY. Mine was really quiet on a stock system as well. Now its not so quiet & really wakes up at higher RPM's. I actually love this exhaust sound so much if this muffler ever craps out I'm buying another to replace it with. So far I have had it for about 6yrs now & its doin just fine.

I'll second your positive review. I have BBK headers paired with the Hooker Aerochamber, it's a great setup for cruising. I can still hear my music when I'm just driving around, and when I get on it the tone is nice and just loud enough for my taste.

Sounds almost exactly like this guys car...

this is what i have. I currently run pacestter shorties and the Hooker Super Competition Cat-Back System (Black Finish W/Show Polished Stainless Tips). It sounds good like this. Nice tone. You can def. hear it coming. LTs and catted Y will be next.

The exhaust still looks fine. No rust yet (fingers crossed)

I sprayed the muffler, tail pipes and tips with bbq black paint. Three years and no rust here. Plus I like the way it blends in. The only issue I had was I had to cut the tails down so the tips didn't stick out too far.

I guess I should have stated that I was not going for a loud exhaust. The Hooker Aerochamber does the job in that department. Sounds great, I'm not looking to wake up the block. I don't care too much about loud, once I add my headers and y pipe, I'm sure it'll be loud enough for my tastes (It's not like dB is measuring the HP lol)

I have a HTC Evo, I'm not sure how good the quality is, but when finish up and put the new tips on, I will try to take a video from behind the car.

I have always liked Hooker catback. Yes its a bit quiet, but i like the more deeper, and rumble muscle car sound it has compared to magnaflow.

But duals is the only way to go...

I would have gotten a hooker catback if it was stainless. I like the setup i have for now. Its just a tad tad louder than stock when the cutout is closed and then nascar like with it open.
