installing ssra today
I'm installing my SSRA today. I never drive my car in the rain, so I'm not worried about water being sucked up in there. I am worried about bugs and other small debris. Has anyone had any issues of anything like this causing any part failures? That's my only concern with this system

I had the SSRA on my past camaro and no issues at all. Sometime i would get stems some dead leaves and dust. The filter will catch it and never really found anything past it thats noticable at all. You should be fine, i ran mine for 2 years atleast and worked good for me.

Anyone ever thought to put a piece of screen at the front of the kit so nothing can come up in it. A piece of window screen wouldnt restrict air flow but would keep large debris from being sucked up to the filter. Just a thought....

I'd be more worried about a "piece of window screen" itself losing threads than I would be about anything else coming in . It may not restrict airflow much, but I'm sure it does somewhat and I really don't see the point. Stainless steel screen I could see maybe? But even then, if I went ssra I'd stick with the plan. I couldn't be bothered, the air filter actually filters the air

I ran my for a long time. Ran it in the rain a lot. Remeber it is in front of the front wheels. To ingest water you would actually have to get the center of the car lower than the wheels, or go tthrough a deep enough puddle to actually dip the SSRA into the water and push it 18 inches up the tract, the past the filter, which is not completely sealed as there is a 1 in opening in the lower air box for stock breathing. I think you would almost have to make an effort to get water in the engine.

Just to verify, my car maybe ran a couple degrees warmer with the SSRA installed but its also a lot hotter out today than when I last drove it. Almost 100 degrees out. Couldn't tell a power difference in driving it but headers and full exhaust were installed too just last week and can tell the power difference there by the less traction I now have. I'm getting my car tuned next month when I install my fast 90/90 set up so that should wake it up some

I think its tucked up in there pretty good. The lowest point on my car is the bullet mufflers on the tsp tds. The headers and x are tucked up pretty good. I'm happy with my ground clearance. Not much lower than stock other than the mufflers
