whats the best mods for a stock ls1??
i have a stock 98 ws6 and want to do a few mild upgrades but not sure which ones are the best for the money...was thinkiing a ls6 intake but wasnt sure if i can use my stock throttle body or maby upgrade that also...and are hp tuners worth the money...all the tuners ive seen say 99-2002 but nothing bout 98..whats the best bang for ur buck upgrades..that dont require a ton of modifications

I think LS6 intake and long tube headers are a good start. I think all the larger MAF and throttle bottle stuff is a waste of money unless you have something bigger than and LS6 intake. BTW yeah your stock throttle body will work fine.

I would recommend an LS6 intake, aftermarket lid, full exhaust, and a tune. These items will net you some nice power results over stock without breaking the bank. With the LS6 intake you can still retain your stock throttle body, and any competent tuner should be able to get you squared away on your tune changes utilizing the HP Tuners software.

If you can't afford both, I'd get the headers first. You can usually find a used set for a good price on the forum. My car picked up 5 tenths by going from a stock SLP loud mouth 1 (very free flowing) to a full header setup and a tune... no other changes. Food for thought.

You can do the headers and intake without a tune...just might not get as much gains. The LS6 intake doesn't have the provision for the EGR, but everything else hooks up fine...I'd just remove the EGR junk and live with the SES light until you can get it tuned.

Definitaly an LS6 intake, headers, 3200 stall, and a frost tune have been the biggest gains ive gotten out of my current setup. 98 TA here so i know whats going on here. car feels alot stronger with these simple mods on and im still on stock 2.73 gears lol cant image how good it would feel on 3.42s or even 3.73s

If you can afford a BORLA you can afford a LS6! and just port your stock TB... and injectors and fuel rails will transfer over. Just need to remove EGR system and block off EGR on the exhaust manifold.
Goodluck with swap!

Pffft... you don't need a stall with an A4; 4.10s alone were plenty to net me 12.6s @ 111mph (with the mods in the signature).
I honestly believe that far too many people throw money at their cars looking for power when they should be looking to optimize what they have in front of them first.
OP, spend wisely. I should know in the next few days if my car is an insurance write-off... after that I should have everything you need. Check back with me next week if you are interested.
