Yes, it is also a visual. My brother had his SS inspected this past April and they kept busting his ***** about his LM1 claiming "the muffler has been modified". I ran that exhaust on my WS6 for 7 years and they never had a problem. Good thing my dad knew the owner. If you have LT's and missing your cats, expect a failed inspection.

Found this with a search. It doesn't explain whether headers are allowed, although Texas does inspect exhaust & emissions.

Here's more definitive info...mentions exhaust manifolds..

Depends on which inspection place you go to. Some are extremely picky and will fail you if there are any modifications, others will not bother so long as you have cats. Others wont even look as most the cars are low to the ground, they will just check the sniffer and be done.

Dallas/Houston/Austin are just about the only places you should expect any grief in Texas. I live in San Antonio, and you'd more or less have to find one of those "Inspection Due" stations to actually catch any ****. I once went to a shop that walked around my car without even getting in, asked me the mileage, and then gave me my sticker. $13.50, done and done. Sorry though, I won't share where that was in the open.
