Default Wrecked my tans am is the engine ok?

I wrecked my first trans am yesterday. It slid on the rain and ran into a pole. It really sucks since I worked quite hard to get the money since I'm in college, and they are quite expensive up here in Canada. I am wondering is the engine salvageable? maybe I could put it into another car. Thanks fellow members.

Get it up on a lift and have a good look at the engine mount points, oil pan, front accy drive parts, and especially the balancer. Would help to roll the engine by hand and see if the balancer wobbles.

When I was looking for a used engine, I was warned never touch an engine with any damage to the crank pulley. Not optimistic about yours.

You won't know until the engine is extracted from the car.
That looks to be a job in itself.
I'm glad you weren't injured.

If it aint no good just let the insurance take care of it. It looks like some damage could have been done to the block.

Sounds like you don't have insurance on it? Ohhh boy. I'm sorry. Blocks are strong but man that looks like it's about to pop through your firewall, tough job to save that motor need a lot of hours, just to hope it's working...

dont know about the engine but if I were you id salvage any/everything I possibly could from the car still.from the pics id say the crank and balancer are probably not happy right now and the front drive system for sure.block might still be ok but i dont think getting the motor out is going to be hard....gut a fresh sawsall blade and cut the front bumper etc out of the way and pull the motor/transmission out.part everything from the car that you can..interior,wheels,diff,lights..everything and make some money back that way. cars will come and go..your health and safety matter most.you can always get another one..and make it better.
