Default Just finished the LS6 intake swap on my Vette

Well just got back from doing the swap. Overall it wasnt that bad. Only 2 bolts had to be held up as oppose to 5 with the F-body. Cut off the fins under the intake was really the only mod that had to be done. The little vacumm line behind the intake was a pain to get back on.

After taking it for a spin the car seems to have lost some low end tq but man above 4000 rpms it really picks up. It just wants to keep pulling up top. I cant wait to get it back on the dyno next week to see what kind of numbers it makes now. I made 298rwhp and 310rwtq with the LS1 intake. The car is a auto and has a Vararam intake.

The LS6 intake is the one with the bolts still in the TB and the orange gaskets still on it. You could not really see a difference between the 2 intakes.

Car made 322rwhp and 331rwtq with the LS6 intake. It is still running really rich. 11.8. I just got a Maft translator to adjust the A/F. We also noticed that it seems to be miss firing up top. I am gonna change out the plugs and wires as well. The runners on the Heads were completely black. Thinking the plugs are probably the same.

A 24 hp increase is really nice just for swapping intakes.

Blew my mind too when I saw it on the dyno........ My exact words were " F@@kin' LS1 " Being a FORD guy, it killed me to see a plain jane Z28 put those numbers down and it takes FORD to build a special car (SVT) to keep up with it.

an ls6 intake is about the best way to spend $400 on these cars. Its really noticeable up top with full exhaust even before the tune.

wont be dynoing it. I am installing with a friend. I dynoed 322 and 323 tq when I had my lt,ory, lid installed on a mustang dyno. That is with a tune and a slipping clutch. I already have a tune so I think I will get decent gains without a retune. When I do dyno it again I will defently post them. Maybe when a shop has a local dyno day I can get new numbers

I need to get the printouts and post them up here. Hopefully my Maft Translator will be here today so I can get back on the Dyno and tune the A/F. I will print off a graph of it with the stock LS1 intake, LS6intake and TB bypass, new plug wires ( since there is alot of questions about what ones are best), and then after a tune.

That's awesome! BTW, I see that you are a former Ford guy as well. I traded a built up 04 ft for this Camaro simply for the reason that you've showed above...these motors friggin rock with just a few simple mods lol

I wouldnt say a former Ford guy. I was never really a Ford guy. I gave Ford a try. I owned 2 Mustangs and really liked them but when My 98 V6 Firebird ran a 14.8 @93 with bolt ons and my 96 GT with the same bolt ons ran a 14.6@94 I was done with the Mustangs. I would own a 03/04 Cobra and a 04 Mach 1. That would be it though..

It kills me on how little is needed to make more power in LS1's..

Ls6 intake and lid should be the first mods on a 98-00 F-body.

I agree blkbrd. I just had mine installed yesterday. I just said wow when i drove it after install. The curves on the ls1 intake on bottom really restrict the flow. I couldnt believe the difference. I had headers, ory, lid and a tune already. What a difference. I got guys bashing me telling me it is all in my head and Im crazy. With your dyno results it proves how good it is. I had 3 ls cars so I know what im talking about somewhat lol.
