Default Cutting air box

Was messing around with my SSRA today and realized I could do a little more fine tuning with the airbox. Take a little bit more off. I would like the SSRA opening to not be covered by the plastic as was thinking out cutting off whats in red for that mini section.

Would cutting this off be fine? Or do I need it for the box to "prop up" to seal better?
