Default ls1 intake/ throttle body hold me back?

i have a stock lq9 and just ordered patriot cnc 243 heads will be getting a cam soon. i have a stock ls1 intake with throttle body i know i would be much better off with a better intake/tb but runing low on cash at the moment and am just gonna run it with what it have for now. im shooting for about 500 crank hp think i can still get there? how bad will it hold me back?

The stock throttle body, MAF sensor & intake supports up to about 450 HP. After that, all should be changed. HOWEVER, upgrading one component without the others won't help.

I don't agree with statements like "support up to xxxhp" in regard to the intake at all. A bone stock ls1 will see gains with a ls6 intake swap. A cammed ls1 will see slightly more gains. A heads and cam ls1 will see slightly larger gains.

The ls1 intake might not sacrifice much under 5500rpm, but if you intend to rev over that the ls6 intake is worth an easy 8-10rwhp with a stock engine. A friend with a 228 cam and header ls1 showed gains at the track of ~.18 and 2mph consistently (he tracks his DA in a log book religiously).

You can run without it, but I would make the upgrade a priority.

A LS6 intake would be a nice upgrade you can do for relatively cheap. Comb the classified section for one.
