Default Are there any brand of long tubes to stay away from?

I'm looking to buy and install a pair of long tube headers on my 2001 Trans Am, I would not like to spend a lot of money so I maybe buying a used pair, is there any type or brand of headers to stay away from that are notorious for problems installing? Thanks! Also some install tips could be helpful! Not much room in there! Lol

Lol "problems installing" its a pain in the *** on a fbody your first time, but once you do it a few times its easy but titius. Budget headers I would go with pacesetter ceramic coated. Pacesetter are cheap in price and they proven there design on dynos across the U.S. I went with pacesetters when I first stared building my SS there good for there price. Top of the line I would go with kooks. I have hooker 1 7/8 on my fbody ss, which are priced in the middle. So you get what you pay for. I would go all out and buy kooks if I can do it all over again. Best of the best! Your ls1 TA would breath like a dragon.

Dont do heddmans..... its easier to go from the top down though imo.

If you are on a budget then hands down the tsp 1-7/8 lontgtubes with their y pipe cant be beat for the price. If you want the best on the market then look at ARH. The most expensive but man those suckers are nice and their y pipe is awesome too. Kooks are now probably on par with ARH since they redone their y pipe

Best headers out there right now for those on a budget are Speed Engineering. The cheapest are no-name headers found on eBay (usually under $180); however, they have 1-5/8" primaries.

Stainless Works long tube headers are 1 3/4 primaries, but have a 2.5 inch collector. Most people don't realize this until after they've already ordered.

+1 for TSP Stainless 1 7/8". Quality product at a bargain price -- you'll only need to do this once!

the TSP's look great for the price, my next question is what plug wires are you running with them, years ago i had an lt1 trans am (95) and i remember the plugs would arc out on the header as the boot for the plug wire was too thin i guess? and clearance issue with these?

KOOKS.........FTW

Don't waste your time with anything less than 1 7/8" and 3" collectors.

I'm running NGK TR-55 plugs with MSD Superconductor 8.5mm wires with my TSP's. No clearance issues at all, proper fitting.
