Default 241 head bolt length

You will need kit 134-3609 from ARP. Two of the 15mm bolts which are 9 and 10 in torque sequence are a little shorter than the other 15mm. This is the Pre 2004 kit I believe. I used this same kit on my head install and I have 2001.

The bolt length diff is in the block years not the head casting #'s. 04 and up use the same length bolts. 03 and earlier use diff length bolts.

It has to do with the block not the head as stated above. 04 was a transitional year, my 04 block uses the old style.

PLEASE, make absolutely sure all coolant is blown out of your bolt holes. That's the biggest killer of these blocks. 1/2" of fluid in the LS1 may crack it.

If you had the wrong bolt kit then you would know it.

Yep. In the early gen blocks the Med. bolts don't even reach the threads. If you had the long bolts in a late gen block, they'd bottom out about 5" above the head. I have 2 6.0 blocks on stands, one early, one late. I keep an old long bolt handy so I know which is which.
I guess I need to tag them to make it easier
