Default Cam Sensor

Been scratching my head on this for a bit. I bought a motor that seems to be a Gen 3. It has a rear Cam sensor, Black 24x crank sensor and Knock sensors in the valley cover.

The guy switched out the cam for an LS9 and I believe he put a different front cover on it with a provision for a cam sensor. Can I plug that and run the rear sensor or do I need to switch over to that sensor in the front for some reason?

I'm stumped.

You can if you change the cam back to a gen III, the Gen IV cams do not have a reluctor...
