Default Creaking Noise Coming From Steering

Of course this has to happen the day I go and order my Loudmouth. I'm getting a creaking noise coming from my steering. With the car off it sounds more like a knocking, but when the car is running it turns into a creaking whenever you turn the wheel. Seems like its coming from the lower part of my steering shaft. Doesn't appear to be any loose U-Joints, could it be my rack going bad??? The tie-rod ends are fine too. Any ideas??

i had a similar problem, it was the rack itself.

previous owner had rack replaced at 24,000 miles, i had the noise at 34,000 when i first noticed it.

I put a new rack in a year and a half after i noticed it, and the car is SO much quieter i wish i would have done it sooner.

Ryan.

thanx for the info. I'm gonna check underneath the car real good tonight just to make sure that its nothing simple, and probably end up replacing the rack I guess. I got a price on one, $179.00, seems pretty reasonable to me
