Default Borlamouth too loud

Hello,

I finally got my longtube headers, ORY, and I figured a LM2 would be a quieter verision of LM1. Well, I guess it might be quieter than LM1, but it made my ears bleed. I purchased a Borla muffler and created a Borlamouth. I like the sound, however, I still feel like it is too loud. It is hurting my ears.

Is there anything I can do to quiet down my current system, or do I just need to go Magnaflow? Other option is adjustable Borla, but it sure is pricy.

I just don't want to keep changing catbacks, so I want to get it right this time.

Thanks in advance!

I like the smell of not having cats though.

Resonators in my experience do very little to quiet sound down, they just add tone etc. If you want quiet you're going to have to go to a real muffler set up, magnaflow etc.

I'm assuming OP's car is cammed? I did a Borlamouth on my boys bolt on 02 SS and it sounds amazing, I would definitely not call it ear hurting loud though.

Yeah that's a good point, but I'm wondering if the OP might be getting some rasp instead of a clean loud sound. I have a Magna mouth on mine with long tubes, ORY and a big cam and I wouldn't call it "hurt my ears loud" by any means lol. Just has a nice deep non raspy sound that's still loud if that makes sense

Add moroso Spiral flows or another bullet. Spiral flows are my mufflers and they are quiet for bullets, average volume for a performance muffler.

Better than a regular resonator.

In addition to the Borla muffler, or in place of?

Obviously more mufflers would be quieter, but I would just swap them and sell the borla

Ask around if anyone would be willing to trade you a different system.
I have SLP dual dual setup I might be getting rid of soon to make more sound.

If I were you I'd buy the SLP Powerflo conversion. Quiets it down quite a bit.

This is what I did. In place of the LM resonator. Not too bad.

I have long tubes and catless y pipe going to a Borla adjustable exhaust with the highest flowing restrictor plate and it sounds really kickass, but not overly loud or obnoxious

I drive with the windows up sometimes and there's not much cab noise and very tolerable. Borla nailed it right on the money with 75% going straight out and 25% through the muffler.

It does have a small bit of raspiness if you give more gas at lower speeds than needed. You can cruise around town in 5th or 6th and hardly notice....and its especially useful while passing the police..

I had LT, ORY, SLP LM1 as well and even though it's only a fair weather car it was just obnoxious....it's crazy for me to say that because I love loud, however it was very raspy and pierced your ear drums around 4500rpms. Switched out the LM1 resonator for a MagnaFlow bullet muffler (still straight through)...made a world of difference, took out 95% of the rasp and still kept a great tone and is still LOUD! I can't remember how much the magna flow bullet muffler was but I wanna say around 100 bucks

I went from LM2 to Borlamouth to the Powerflo conversion. The latter was very satisfying for a fbody with a y pipe setup. A x pipe setup will always sound superior.

Off hand I'm not sure, it's stainless with 3'' inlet and outlet, round in shape, maybe 6'', and see straight through, with a perforated ''barrell'' and glass packing in the outer round part. Hope that helps....it's been years sorry haha

Side note I do remember having to have the slp parts of the cat back opened up to fit the 3''
