Track was rained out AGAIN this Friday, so we ended up going to the "Runday Sunday" today. It was HOT and the DA was 3135
At least got a few runs in with my son driving. Car can not go faster than 8.75 with a passenger at this track, so I drove the first time to show him the "ropes". Let off at the 330' and it ran a 8.16 @ 55mph (oopsies). Next pass let him drive and he did ok, didn't do the best burnout and it spun on the launch, oh well he needs to learn what that feels like. Next pass he did a good burnout and it hooked (let out early and coasted a 8.6). He got in three passes before the rains came.
I only took it down the track once by myself and ran another 7.44 @ 93.8mph.
Car has a lot more in it with more weight reduction and some negative DA.

Yes he was! I'll have to keep riding along while he has his learners permit. Must have a drivers license to run by himself. He did really good for a beginner, he listens well. We will continue to practice the burnout, staging, tree, launch, and running through the 330' mark. He should have all that mastered by the time he can let it eat the entire 1/8th.

Guts of parking brake in hub removed (not to mention some drag) = 5lbs of unsprung weight.

You are correct...my car will pick up .3-.4 tenths on extreme DA differences.
Let me know when you're thinking of going. Thanks,

Did a little tally last night...I have sold $1,100 worth of parts to help offset go fast parts. Still have full interior, two blocks (6.0 and 5.7), and an A/C system if anyone is interested.

Well, we've been down a while...tranny issues. Going back together this weekend. The good news is the temps and humidity is finally getting to where we want to go to the track. A few little changes in the setup should yield better times

I enjoy following y'all's progress. I hope I can get my son interested and do something similar in 3 or 4 years.
The weather should start getting right soon. Cold front coming through this weekend(it was upper 70's here today). This is the time of year to be able to go without sweating down and enjoy it!.

What did you have it restalled to? It sounded too tight in your video

I agree...It was a FTI3800 nitrous converter (came with tranny I purchased used). When the tranny went south I sent the converter back to FTI for their 4000 N/A. All I did last night was terrorize the neighborhood for a few minutes and it does feel more loose.
I will report back after track tonight.
