Catalytic converter question
Yeah I'm going to show my inexperience with this but I don't care. Just spent a little bit looking up underneath my car trying to locate the stock catalytic converters. I was under the impression that the hump in the passenger side of the interior is because of the catlytic converter.
But from looking under the car I can't see the exhaust pipes going into anything in that area. The only thing I see are the pipes coming off the engine seperately, then going halfway back the car to where they merge together and then they head into the muffler at the back before coming out again. So where are my cats, or am I just really blind?

The hump is there becuase the LT1 cars had the cat(s) there. GM redesigned the exhaust for the LS1, but they didn't change the car's floor pan. That's also why the left(driver) side section of the y-pipe is flat. GM needed to hump the floor there, but didn't.

If im correct, the hump is there to make room for the drive shaft. It does make sense.
As to the hump being for legroom....if anything, the "hump" lessens the amount of legroom. Just sit in the back and see.

They're talking about the hump on the passenger side floorboard.
You're talking about the driveshaft tunnel.
BTW, I hate that stupid hump .
The good thing is that I'm never on the passenger seat, so it only bothers me to look at it.

Yeah I noticed that the driver's side part of the y-pipe was really flat, confused the hell out of me looking at it. But yeah, when I looked up towards the engine tracing the exhaust back, I saw the pipes coming out of what could have been a small box, which I'm assuming were the cats, but they're really tucked in there then.
