Default Post Flowtech LT install

i have a couple questions guys.

when i accelerate, i hear a ticking noise, gaskets ??

when the car is at idle in reverse, there is a rattling noise, that sounds like it is coming from a vibration somewhere.

anyone have any info on these concerns

I had Flowtechs and after about a month the collector welds went bad and I had a lot of exhaust leaks. They also ddid not seal well to the head due to the bulky welds. I also had leaks there but I fixed them with the Earl's dead soft aluminum gaskets from Jegs. There will be an increase of valvetrain noise through the exhaust with headers but pull your spark plug wires to see if there is any black lines on them, this will indicate that the header gasket is leaking. Aso the K member had to be trimed ever so slightly. Scan the car with a tap and if the fuelt trims are off, one side more than the other that will be an indication of an exhaust leak. Check your collector welds. Godd luck, after a month of problems, I went craxy and upgraded to the Hookers. They have thicker flanges and fit flush to the heads. If budjet is an issue, wich I think that even the Flowtechs and Pacesetters are expensive relative to other cars, go with the Pacsetter.

Do you have AIR? Might be the check valves fluttering. I know I have a ticking noise on mine and am planning on doing the AIR restrictor mod.

I also have the flowtechs and hate them. I am going to switch to a set of QTP's in the next month. I have been through several o2's due to what I think is either A)Bad 02 Extensions or B) Exhaust leak(s). This is all also with a full tune.

poor gav, that sucks man, i was hoping everything would go smooth for ya, but it appears quite a bit of the problems are stemming from the headers themselves, hopefully you can get that fixed, i know i put locking fasteners on my headers, with just gm gaskets, no leaks that i can hear, but my headers are a bit of a step up from flowtechs

I'm not sure why people continue to buy the Flowtech's with so many varied quality issues.

The new updated Pacesetters are probably the best low buck header out there...if you can afford it step up to the QTP/Kooks/PPC/Stainless Works.
