Default everyone please tell me how you got your longtube y pipe to not leak

i can hear a slight ticking noise, now either the longtube install made the piston slap louder or the y pipe leaks, its hard to tell. i used band clamps how can i get this to not leak besides weld it

I have the same problem, I dont have any exhaust leak so its most likely made the piston slap worse. You get use to it.

Try high temperature O2 sensor friendly RTV sealant and let it cure for a day.

I got rid of it and went with TDs...

Just have it welded, but don't weld it to your headers.

Well you're going to hear some noise because the headers are alot thinner than the stock manifolds. If the connections are downstream from your O2's then you can use RTV to seal the bandclamps. I welded my y to my i though.

To perform this properly, the system needs to be taken apart, the joints sanded and then cleaned with brake cleaner. Then apply the RTV sealant and let it cure for 24 hours.

I don't think he has to go that far. The shop I go to just used the Red RTV applied to the band clamps. Tightened everything down. Walah. No more leaks. It's been about 10,000 miles since. I think using the copper rtv and cleaning everything is overkill. All the RTV is doing is acting like a compression gasket. Doesn't have to stick.

I would let it sit to be safe. I drove right away and didn't have a problem though.

go to the kitchen and get the tin foil fold it wrap aronud the smaller side, install a good clamp, stops 95% of all the leaks ive ever come across, usally bad clamps/bent or dented pipes are the other 5%
