It seems that I've seen a lot of questions on where to get a 85mm airlid, but there have been some problems getting them lately. Could you make one by heating an airlid with a heat gun or two, and using something like a muffler pipe expander to open it up to 85mm? As long as you're using radiant heat instead of open flame, the plastic should get soft enough to re-form, shouldn't it?

10 to 1 says all you end up with is a useless lid. You have a better chance cutting the stock neck off, and epoxying or plastic welding a piece of PVC pipe to your lid. But I would not try that either.

If you are going to make the attempt maby try a big pot of boiling water. it would would heat eveanly and if you heat it slowly it wont distort like a heat gun might. Just a thought,good luck hope you dont ruin a good lid.

I'd try it with a factory lid first, but first I have to find another one, mine went in the trash can... Thanks for the suggestions though.

I think most lids were meant to slip over the 75mm MAF
so they may be an OD match to the 85mm, in which
case just butt them up and use a piece of 3-1/2"
hose to couple them. Maybe not as stylish but should
work. The SLP MAF comes with a piece of 3-1/2" cut-
down Fernco hose (genuine) for that use.
