Best Bolt on Mods for 2001 C5
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
I am doing some research for my pops. He just bought a 2001 Corvette, Silver, Convertable, Auto.
He is looking into doing some work on it, to give it a little more.
He is thinking exhaust, and headers.
What do you guys recomend? Brands? Why?
Any other mods that should be done? Intake?, etc.
Thanks for your help.

Ok I did find this...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139142
My bad...
But any other suggestions would be nice.
ECU upgrades... what kind of "true" gains can be expected, safely.

Since he's an auto, one of the first mods should be a stall convertor. He needs to know what goals he has for the car first (street, strip, or both)before knowing what stall to choose. Then headers and exhaust. Of course if he can, do it all at once...stall, heads/cam, exhaust and tuning.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to get nosey on the site and educate myself. There is a lot to take in. I have tuned many cars but never a pushrod, mostly turbo's.
What does the stall converter do and where can I get some info on this. I assume it has something to do with the torq converter. As for plans on the car, it is mostly a cruiser, but he wants more oomph. I can say that it will never be really be truely dragged (track), I doubt he will be out racing on the street, maybe the ocasional highway pull, and I might, (might) have him into auto-x but very little of that will be done. These mods need to be very streetable.

Yes, when I mentioned stall, I was referring to the torque convertor. Basically it gives you better shift extensions which kills some of the dead spots in your rpm range. When your car shifts from first to second, your rpms will not drop nearly as much (depending on which convertor you go with) which keeps you in your powerband for a longer time. Also, they increase your str (stall torque ratio), which means from a dead stop, you can launch harder, but then you also need the tire to take advantage of the harder launch. You might want to go to Yanks webpage (sponsor listed on the right) and read their faq. It's pretty informational. You can also find more info in the drivetrain section.
