Spohn solid motor mounts vs Prothane Poly Motor Mounts???
I think the title says it all... can anyone compare the pros and cons to these setups? I'm considering both versions.
Thanks.
Thanks.

solid motor mounts will increase the vibrations a great deal, are generally used on track-only cars. not conducive to street driving. if its your DD, or even a weekend cruiser that sees more than 100 miles a week, i'd suggest poly motor mounts. they perform well but retain functionality.

All solid motor mount manufacturers recommend a poly trans mount with them. I never asked any of them why before, but when started a thread here pertaining to the subject, it went up and down page one for some time w/o responses or opinions. I assumed know one here had any answers. Look at it however you'd like, but the manufacturer knows best. All this hear-say isn't really a realiable source...

with the minimal amount the motor actually moves with poly mounts, i wouldnt see any reason to use solid mounts. many people have actually reported LESS vibration after poly mounts were installed.
i was researching this last night and i plan on doing poly mounts over the christmas break. i'll have my exhaust/trans out and they will be a bit easier to get to.
i've found many posts mentioning poly mounts as one of their best mods

It sure is a great mod, especially for cammed cars. I'd rate it closer to a must for a car w/ a larger cam. I've seen engines shake pretty violently @ idle with larger cams and factory rubber mounts.

I did in fact have less vibrations with poly mounts. Maybe because my stock ones were bad. Well atleast my driver side was bad IMO. When I drilled the rivets out and pulled the clamshell apart the rubber just fell out. It was supposed to be bonded to the clamshell requiring heating it to release. My passenger side had to be heated.
For the record I am still using a factory tranny mount, a new one. I may try a poly tranny mount too.
